Damon Albarns' Cultural Radar on The Guardian

Imagen
Today I checked out Damon Albarn's cultural radar highlights! If you don't know him, Damon is the lead singer in Blur and co-founder of Gorillaz, so, he's a very cool guy -being a musician myself, I can say how difficult it is to write song like his. He posted about film, theatre, a book, an exhibition and about music, along with a curious app.  Reading his post on The Guardian, I can't help but notice his interest on particular things like this cellphone app called "Djembeföla" that breaks down west African percussive ensembles with its polyrythmics part or his arrival to a Palestinian restaurant because they serve a special kind of tea, it shows he's a particular individual. I also love how he pictured Duke Ellington's work and the growth along all those of playing didn't stop the Duke to stop experimenting and it kind of reminds me to Damon's figure nowadays, he just doesn't stop going forward.

My first concert

I haven't been to many concerts, I’m sure I’ve gone more to independent artist’s gigs such as jazz gigs or indie/alternative. But one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen as a youngster is Jamiroquai’s. It was one of the very first concerts in my life and I hope I can add more as the years go by, this time I went with my aunt, a cousin and my dad to Movistar Arena. This concert was special because they've just released a new album called "Automaton" in Mar ch of 2017, and after a long tour the band arrived in Chile in December of the same year.   It's my dad's fault that I love this band so much. It's his favorite band too and he has a CD collection of all the older albums that I've been claiming as mine because I'm the one that uses the CD player more often. If you don't know this band, I recommend it a lot -- It's fun, funky and very groovy with some of the greatest musicians there are. I personally like some of the old records like ...

Not another beach trip

I wouldn't say I've traveled very much during my short life. The places I've mostly been to are beaches like Zapallar's Lake or Algarrobo on some holidays. The biggest trip my family and I have had was to Villarrica, but I am not writing about that (really boring) trip in this blog: I'll talk about the time my friends and I went for 5 days to El Quisco beach for winter holidays. I've known these friends since I entered school; Fernando, Franco, Cristóbal, Diego, Benjamín were (and still are) some of not so many long-term friendships I have. We went to Fernando's family house that was not so close to the coast itself - but we didn't care enough to take a swim in the cold freezing water. We made the decision to go on a trip in school, but I can't remember in which class: the plan was to get together early in the morning on the subway (because most of us lived near each other), and go from there to station Universidad de Santiago heading over to the bus...

Introduction

Hello there, this is my first official blog in the history of the Internet. My name is Ignacio, born and raised (sadly, maybe) in Santiago where I've always lived in the suburbs of the city, but right now I am located in the epicenter of the capital. No matter where I am, my family joins me, we always try to keep each other near and it's conformed of my grandpas and parents, my little brother (although he is very tall), my aunt and her daughter and my dog, Walt. Within this load of people and activity (referring to the city too), I've always found comfort in books, music -listening and playing specifically alternative/rock/jazz-, writing or watching movies; maybe those are my hobbies but I don't call them like that because they are not in a side of my life but it is my life in many ways. And some of my dreams are about them, writing a book or creating something that can give an answer to "life" or maybe not, but create something. I believe it's the same re...
